Vprašanje: Imam par morskih prašičkov. Zanima me, kako naj se mladički prehranjujejo, ko se skotijo? Kako negovati mladičke? Zanima me vse v zvezi z mladički.
Odgovor: Mladički se skotijo odlakani in z odprtimi očmi, kmalu po rojstvu pričnejo tudi tekati naokrog. Pri mami samici sesajo mleko, v dnevu ali dveh pa pričnejo jesti tudi normalno hrano (travno seno in zelenjavo). Od zelenjave lahko jedo solato, brokoli, blitvo, radič, endivijo, peteršilj, zeleno papriko, korenje, zéleno in drugo. Ne smejo pa jesti npr. zelja, saj lahko napenja.
Po kotitivi je bolje, da samca ločite od samice z mladički, saj lahko pride do vnovične oploditve samice kmalu po kotitvi mladičkov. Pri samici se začne nov ovulacijski ciklus nekaj ur po kotitvi. Odstavlja se jih pri starosti okrog 4 tedne, ko je treba tudi ločiti samčke od samičk. Takrat namreč mladički spolno dozorijo in bi lahko prišlo do oploditve, kar pa je mnogo prezgodaj, saj so še sami mladiči. Mlade samčke lahko daste v prostor skupaj s samcem.
Mladičke lahko božate in jemljete v naročje že prvi dan, takoj ko jih samička očisti in osuši (razen, če to prvi dan vznemirja samico). Na ta način bodo tudi postali “domači” in se ne bodo bali. K novim lastnikom gredo lahko pri starosti približno 6 tednov.
Za razmnoževanje (za prvo leglo) mora biti samička stara 4-5 mesecev in težka vsaj 500 g, prvo leglo pa mora imeti preden je stara 10 mesecev. Če se prva kotitev zgodi kasneje, ima lahko pujsa probleme pri kotitvi zaradi zraščene medenice (popolna okostenitev se zgodi pri 7-12 mesecih), zato pri samičkah, ki imajo mladičke kasneje, lahko pride do težkih porodov, ki se žal končajo tudi s smrtjo samice in mladičkov. To se zgodi predvsem, če gre za manjšo samico, ki ima malo mladičev (ponavadi so večjih dimenzij kakor mladiči iz večjih legel (5-6 mladičev)).

Imam morskega prašička, starega 5 let. Že tri dni ima probleme z iztrebljanjem. Odklanja svežo zelenjavo, sadje, tudi solato, ki jo je imel najraje. Zrnje in seno je, vendar v manjših količinah. Vode praktično ne pije, tudi prej je ni, ampak je očitno tekočino dobil s solato. Veterinar mu je včeraj dal klistir iz parafinskega olja, vendar glede na izrebke, ki so suhi in jih je malo, ni kaj dosti pomagalo. Je tudi bolj miren in se samo skriva v hiški. Kako naj mu pomagam še sama? Hvala za odgovor.

@olimpija: Težave z iztrebljanjem verjetno izvirajo iz tega, da odklanja hrano. Zelo mogoče je, da ne gre le za zaprtje, pač pa za skriti oz. drugi vzrok, ki je lahko npr.: težave s predolgimi zobmi, napihnjenje (bloat) ali morda infekcija zgornjega dihalnega trakta. Svetujem ponovni obisk veterinarja.

zdravo,
imam mlado morsko prašičko in od kar je s samčkom bila skupaj v kletki je postala debela.Zdaj ne vem ali zaradi tega ker ji dajem veliko zelenjave in sadja ali pa je breja.
Prosim če mi poveste kako lahko ugotovim ali je prašička res breja ali pa se je samo zredila

@dejan: V primeru, da si samička in samček delita kletko ali je bila samička nekaj časa s samčkom, je zelo verjetno breja. Morski prašički nosijo mladičke okrog 70 dni (od 59 do 73 dni). Najbolje, da si na koledar zabeležite, kdaj sta bila skupaj v kletki.
V primeru, da mine 70 dni in mladičkov ni, se je zredila zaradi prehrane, če pa je breja v tem času pride do kotitve, lahko še celo prej kot v 70 dneh. Sicer se da brejost ugotavljati tudi ultrazvočno pri veterinarju.
Dokler ne mine 70 dni, odkar ste samčka in samičko imeli skupaj je najbolje, da delate z njo, kot da je breja. Ne prijemajte je več, kot je nujno, zmanjšajte stresne dejavnike v njenem okolju, zagotovite ji, da ima stalno na voljo hrano in vodo ter ji dajte dodaten vitamin C.

rabim pomoč pri morskemo prašičko,ker se mi zdi da je zbolel.Ko diha se sliši tako kot bi imel zadelan nos (nekako šmrka) in oči se mu lepijo ves čas skupaj.kaj svetujete?

@dejc: morda gre le za prehlad, lahko pa bi slo tudi za bakterijsko infekcijo, svetujem obisk pri veterinarju, saj bo moral pujsek najverjetneje na antibiotsko terapijo.

živjo. moja pujsa je stara 7 mesecev, dobila sem jo, ko je bila stara 5 mesecev, torej 2 meseca nazaj. problem je v tem, da grize in si je ne upam prijeti. kako naj ji pokažem, da se ji ni treba bati? zanima me tudi, kako je treba pravilno prijet morskega prašička, saj jo moja “pogumna” sestra prime kljub grizenju in pujsa cvili.

živjo..imam morskega prašička z imenom Hanzy star je okoli 5 let. danes ga bomo dali uspavati ker : nič ne je in ne pije, že skoraj dva tedna, shujšal je zel veliko, ko ga položim v kletko tam obstane se vrže na eno stran trebuha in z vsemi nogami začne brcati … k veterinaruju smo dšli že 2× zdaj ko je bolan vendar mu ni to nin nič pomagalo … ima drisko in bruha zato ga v družini ne moremo gledati kako se žival matra… :/ ali ga damo uspavati ali kaj naj naredimo? hvala..

no nič ni treba pisat … smo ga z mami pelale na kliniko tm je dubu še en napad prideve u sobo ga je položila na mizo in je umrl* :’( a bi lahko sam zvedla zakaj se je to dogajalo kar sem prej napisala?

Pozdravljeni! Morskega prašička(danes sem se prepričala, da je ona) imam približno dva meseca, star je pa malo več kot 3 mesece. Danes je skotila 3 male mladičke, bila sem zelo presenečena! Sprašujem se, če bo kaj narobe z mamo morskim prašičkom, ker je zelo mlada? Je možno, da bo kateri izmed majhnih prašičkov umrl, ker ima mati le dva seska? Opazila sem, da eden izmed njih, še ni sesal … Lepo prosim, da mi odgovorite. hvala..
